At Injury Health Center, we specialize in providing gentle chiropractic services to those suffering from pain and other afflictions. The doctors working at this center, Dr. Proscia and Dr. Terranova, have years of experience in spinal adjustments. One of the many tools at our disposal when helping our patients cope with their pain is a type of therapy that uses acoustic compression. We are excited to offer this service to our patients in Orlando, Sanford, and South Daytona.
What is Acoustic Compression Therapy?
Acoustic compression therapy offers patients a non-invasive means by which doctors can deal with pain in only a few visits. The Injury Health Center is the only chiropractic clinic in Central Florida that offers acoustic compression therapy, and the service can be found at our South Daytona, Orlando, and Sanford locations. The service also treats pain in the musculoskeletal system, both chronic and acute. This method is also able to deal with other issues, including circulation problems and issues with your range of motion.
This method uses acoustic waves to break up scar tissues and deal with adhesions and muscle spasms, much in the same way that the waves are used in lithotripsy to get rid of kidney stones without surgery. The wave pulses through the affected area for a short period of time. This allows for issues that may otherwise require an invasive solution to be done without the patient having to feel anything while the therapy method is taking place. This treatment takes place over multiple sessions (an average of 5-7 until completion), which lasts no more than ten minutes per session. Patients can usually expect results as early as the first treatment, though this may vary for some.
Acoustic compression therapy can not only reduce pain, it can also reduce inflammation which has been known to cause pain. The therapy increases the circulation of vital nutrients and oxygen to the damaged tissues which promotes healing and reduces the recovery time for injuries. This procedure is completely safe with no side effects however, it is not appropriate for patients with a bleeding disorder or pregnant women.
